E-Collars Explained
When discussing e-collars, you might naturally associate them with "shock collars," or perhaps you're unfamiliar with them and wish to learn more. The idea of using an e-collar on your dog might make you feel uneasy, uncertain about its safe and humane application.
Allow me to provide clarifications about the e-collars and training methods we utilize in our Reliable Recall Course. Rest assured that the e-collars we use are NOT shock collars; they are stimulus collars, offering a different sensation that DOES NOT shock your dog.
These stimulus e-collars have a similar feeling to a tens machine or a Dr. Ho machine, often used in physiotherapy. To help you better understand, they produce a tingling tapping sensation. During our classes, I ensure that you feel the e-collar on your hand beforehand so that you comprehend what your dog will experience. This way, you can feel confident in using this training tool and understand that it is not a shock-based approach.
To ensure comfort for your dog, we determine their working level, which is the lowest number they can feel, akin to a gentle tap on the shoulder for attention, rather than a shock or correction. Our approach to e-collar training is to use it as a communication tool, not a corrective one. Outdated methods of correcting dogs to make them listen or avoid correction are not part of our strategy. Instead, we combine the e-collar as a communication tool with up-to-date training methods.
Throughout the course, we guide your dog through 4 distinct phases, teaching them how to respond to the e-collar in a positive and understanding manner. Our Reliable Recall training system has been refined, breaking it into manageable steps to facilitate your dog's learning and comprehension of the e-collar's significance. With this approach, we have successfully achieved perfect recall in over 285 dogs in the past 7 years.
Should you have any further inquiries about the e-collars we employ, please don't hesitate to contact us via email at any time. We are here to address any concerns and ensure a rewarding training experience for you and your beloved canine companion.
